From several people now.
Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, and what significance it has.Lame Latin jokes, comics, and the occasional object of beauty
This was made from a coat of arms entropy_house did when she looked them up for the Blake's 7 crew. The house of Restal is apparently an old French family; I like the crossed rakes and the three stars, perfect for a space-travelling rogue. I added the Latin motto which is real Latin but an old joke as the words don't make a sentence.
Semper = 'always'I mainly use this for posts about being a Roman legionary re-enactor, or comments about classics or Latin elsewhere.
ubi = 'where?'
sub = 'under'
This is one of my comic-ised icons. I like the effect as it makes a complicated picture simple enough to be clear on an icon. I don't use this one that often as I'm not usually that cross.
I rather like this one because the grey bars are part of the picture and perfect for putting some text on. I'm pleased with the text too. I should use it more often than I do.
snowgrouse made this one and I thought it was so beautiful, I snaffled it. I love the colouring and lighting and the subtle way the lion's head is blended into her hair so that it's not that obvious.
The Liberator, the most beautiful ship in SF, and the only sort of ship I generally write about.
An oldie. I think it's this far down because I fiddled with it to sharpen it. It's one of the few pics of Vila really smiling in the series, and from near the end of 'City' as Norl explains and Vila realises the significance of his actions. I use this one quite a lot because I like to express its text.
I think Vila likes to day-dream. I've seen this image used to show cynicism and disbelief and I can see that too. Oh, well.
Another comic-style one. I remember doing this one night when I could only see out of one eye because I'd scratched the cornea of the other, and making it helped me keep my mind off the pain. It's this far down because I've had a couple of unsuccessful goes at making the text clearer.
A Dayna picture I had to use when I saw it. It will probably only ever be used in jest. And besides, I can't afford the airfare.
Spring in NZ: kowhai flowers! And an appropriate one to end with since it's an absolutely beautiful warm spring day here.
