Fandom meme (yes, I did it too)

From lots of people so far, list six of your favourite TV shows:

1. Blake's 7
2. Babylon 5
3. Farscape
4. Stargate SG1
5. Star Trek: The Next Generation
6. Doctor Who (9th Doctor)

1. Who is your favourite character from #2? [Babylon 5]

Argh! That's hard because I have two equal: Londo and G'Kar, who really need each other for their character development, with dear, sweet Vir not far behind them.

2. Who is your least favourite character from #4? [SG1]

I don't really dislike anyone (and I've only seen up to season 7). Ummm, I dunno, the guy who says "Chevron n encoded", just because I don't know that much about him? Though I really feel more sorry for him than anything else; what a mind-numbing job that must be.

3. What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include? [B7 and ST:TOS]

I didn't cheat with the orders of my fandoms, but haha, it would be the story I'm still writing for an old Multiverse orphan challenge. I may even do something on it while I'm here on holiday if I get tired of day trips and reading (unlikely). It will however include Vila being challenged to a bat'leth fight by Worf, a scene with Guinan, and a conversation about history between Blake and Picard.

4. Who is your favourite ship from #6? [Doctor Who]

The TARDIS of course! If I was given the chance, I'd run to it with hair flying (as much as it would, being short), just like Rose did.

5. If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be? [Farscape & Doctor Who]

Jool and Adam because they're both annoying people who'd deserve an evening of wishing like hell they hadn't agreed to this idiocy. Maybe Jool would even scream her frustration and melt Adam's dataport; one can hope.

6. If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do? [Stargate SG1]

I think Te'alc (not sure where the stupid clichéd SF apostrophe goes) because I love his dignity and quiet humour and would enjoy showing him Earth culture. We could go to the Rainbow's End amusement park; I think his reaction to the bumper boats ("You intended to deliberately crash into that craft and get wet?") would be largely puzzlement, but once he got it, he'd have a lot of fun.

7. If you could change one thing about #2's plot line, what would you change? [Babylon 5]

I'd make the Vorlons and Shadows a lot more mysterious, and reveal their nature more slowly. OK, I know the unseemly haste was forced on JMS, but having both races turn out to be spoiled squabbling brats just out to score off each other was such a let-down.

8. Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them. [ST:TNG]

Data and pretty much anyone else in the crew, because no one considered him as anything but another person. OK, you want specific: Data and Spot. Data had great respect for Spot, and in his turn, Spot trained Data well in the care and maintenance of cats and gave him the unconditional (though not undemanding) affection of his species. And that scene where Data finds Spot in the wrecked Enterprise and he gets liquid in his eyes? OK, I didn't like them giving Data an emotion ship because he was cool the way he was, but I lost a little focus there myself, because hey, it was a cat.

9. If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be? [B7 & Farscape]

Even though I have a different order from astrogirl2, I still ended up with the same two shows in this question, and I think I'd make the same choice as her but for different reasons. I'd save Crichton because if Blake drowned, the last ep wouldn't happen. [evil grin]

10. If you could change the characters' order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose? [SG1]

Like everyone else, I just don't get this question. Are they asking if I think the characters' relative importance is, or should be different? [shrug] OK then, I'd make it alphabetic. That seems fair.

11. If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like and what would their role be? [Doctor Who]

I like it the way it is. OK, how about Jabe survives and joins the Doctor and Rose as a companion? Or if I can stretch it to include planets, I'd like to have had some eps set off Earth.

12. What happens in your favourite episode of show #2? [B5]

That's a hard one and it's a while since I've seen the show, but is I have to choose, I think it would be the one where Londo and G'Kar kill each other, because it's the culmination of their friendship and their intertwined lives, and there is also hope for the future of the Centauri as Vir finds them at the end and picks up the Imperial seal (and the responsibility).

13. If you could kill off one of the characters of #1, who would it be and how would you do it? [B7]

Servalan, and I'd have her die in the Liberator at Terminal. She was a good character up till then, but bringing her back was a severe misjudgement. She outstayed her welcome, and how likely was it that she could swan around as Sleer when she made no attempt to change her style (hair or clothes) from when she was President? It forces us fanfic writers to make up all sorts of reasons why no one would recognise her when in fact she had her face plastered all over the vids during the Teal-Vandor duel.

14. If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose? [Farscape & ST:TNG]

Ooh, hard one. ST:TNG I suppose, since it's more likely to have been preserved, and I bet they have a bridge with a captain's chair in which I could lean back and say, "Make it so, Mr Data," while sipping a cup of Earl Grey tea, hot.

15. So, I saved the best question for last. If you could date anyone from any of these shows, which show and which person?

Need you ask? Vila from Blake's 7 of course! He'd be fun and sweet and so starved for affection and friendship, he'd be happy to go out with someone who likes him. And I'd convince him not to go back. He'd be safe with me.
